A Presentation at deSha’s Restaurant

After Covid put a stop to my giving presentations, on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, I gave my first talk in about two years to the women of the Gamma Phi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma – a group that promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

Thanks goes to Sue Eades for inviting me to be the presenter for their meeting.

It was fun to talk about Cincinnati history again and stir up memories of what a downtown shopping trip and tearoom luncheon experience was like.

Following the presentation, I heard wonderful reactions.  Here are a few:

  • Katie Gantz recalled how excited she was, when as a young girl eating in Pogue’s Camargo Room, she was allowed to use the silver tongs to take one sugar cube out of the bowl on the table to place on her plate and then pick it up with her fingers and plop it into her mouth!
  • Another of the attendees came up to tell me that she loved how I had shared not only the stories and pictures, but also really appreciated that I had pre-tested all the recipes chosen for the book.
  • And Carol Ladrigan sent me a very enthusiastic email, along with the photos below. She wrote, “I’m so happy I got to see your presentation today!!  You thoroughly hooked me on your book!  I can’t wait to try some of the recipes too!!   I took your book to my next meeting.  One of the girls got online and purchased her own copy!!”
