I was invited back to speak at the Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community on Wednesday, April 11th. Based on comments that people made after the presentation, I think everyone found the topics interesting. One woman said my talk was so enjoyable she would have liked it if I’d continued talking for another hour!
The tables were beautifully dressed with white cloths and charming flower arrangements in teacups. The attendees were treated to a wonderful tearoom style luncheon (inspired by some of the hundred recipes in the book) of Mulligatawny soup, chicken salad and cucumber & cream cheese tea sandwiches, the Netherland salad, and tea cookies & miniature scones for dessert. The food was delicious – I know for sure because they kindly treated me to the meal after I spoke.
It was fun, and surprising, to see several people in the audience that were friends and acquaintances from the past: someone who went to high school with me, a former neighbor, a professor from my college days, and a real estate agent who worked with my family years ago.
All and all it was a lovely day, just as promised in the very attractive invitations.
